Portrait of a couple of Monsters of the Cinema. The Filmmaker and The Musician. My Tribute of their great artistry and wonders...through those remarkable movies that I have on my heart and soul. This was made usin Pencil on Paper.1999
Another great portrait and tribute. So many intricate, interesting details to enjoy. The white hairs against the dark background, the zipper teeth, the beards (lots of hair on these two) and the lively eyes. Very expressive piece with good composition. More than fan art, it's really a pleasure to look at.
This is a great portrait of two very important people in Hollywood. I more familiar with John Williams because I was playing in a symphony orchestra when the original Stars Wars came out and the music became available for orchestras. Yes, my group did play it. But he has made some of the greatest music in the USA, if not world, since Star Wars. Now to the drawing - it's great! Both look like the men (very important) and your technic is excellent. You put in a lot of details and the shading and lighting are super. Outstanding!!!
Hey Joilieder, That´s pretty interesting! Are you currently playing in any symphonic orchestra? Well, you must know I love symphonic music, above all the film scores, actually I´m a hard collector of soundtracks (I have hundreds or thousands of titles )and have to tell you one of my main motivations or inspirations to paint is the music! I can not work with no music, that´s imposible for me...I need that special nexus between the image and sound, even I´ve been always interested in that matter, the connection between those arts...so, I´m mostly an audiovisual artist, even I have some experience editing video and sound, and even designing sound (a bit). I´ve always ask myself if maybe I had to take the sound/music way in my life (sometimes I´ve thinking I made a big mistake in my career) and yes, I guess I´m a frustrated musician About your comment about Williams I totally agree...he is THE MASTER (almost a kind of god in the matter, because of his talent and astounding level of creations), the best film composer ever, also his concert works (and film scores) are performed for the most important orchestras around the world. If your interested I have an youtube account where I´ve been uploading several videos of live film concerts here in Chile (still I have to upload many others!!!). I love the experience of listening to the music in a live performance...for me is something out of this world!
I just saw this and thought I'd reply. I'll try not be so gabby. By the way, I subscribed to your YouTube account.
I mostly love classical music as in Beethoven, Mozart, Mendelsohn, so forth. You mention needing to listen to music when you're doing your artwork, I'm opposite of that. Whenever I put music on even to be just to be in the background, I stop doing what I'm doing and listen to the music. I tend to analyze a little bit and also listen to the bassoon part and just enjoy the particular piece of music. I get nothing else done. But I do love watching concerts (on TV or in person).
What instrument would you have liked to play? I started out on piano and actually got quite good. I've learned to play most instruments and with a refreshment course on fingerings, could play still but I now have to make a living just to survive in these crazy financial times.
Okay, that's all for tonight. I'll watch your YouTube tomorrow. Looking forward to it. Good night.
Beautifully rendered!Loving the skin textures, tonal gradations & contrast between the subject's clothes! The lighting & shadow work really gives this wonderful piece real depth! Congratulations on a beautifully produced piece of artwork!
