Description

Hello everyone,

I just wanted to show you my last digital painting...this is a tribute to a very old movie, but one of the best science fiction films of all time (and one of my favourite ones too). I´m talking about "The Day the Earth Stood Still" (1951).

Few years before this movie, the modern age of the UFOs (1947) began, so I guess, at that time this film could be absolute amazing and disturbing, the story of an extraterrestrial (even messianic) called Klatu and his giant robot Gort, that comes to the Earth to bring us a message of peace and an ultimatum too!

I wanted to represent the final scene of the movie when Klaatu (Michael Rennie) gives his warning speech.Painter. 2011

I hope you like this tribute to such iconic movie...

Best Regards

Now, here's an amazing caricature tribute to a stunning 1950s sci-fi movie! To see Klaatu pointing towards the camera, as he did in a scene from "The Day the Earth Stood Still" is a blast from the past. He and Gort have a charming bobblehead look to them that pulls you in and leaves you breathless and anxious to go back and watch this classic again.

This represents Hollywood at its best during that golden dawn of special effects, a time when gasoline was under a buck a gallon, artificial sweeteners didn't exist and all the kiddies were up at dawn, watching Howdy Doody.

The originality is in its artistic take on this slice of movie history. The technique is wonderfully mastered, from the shininess of Klaatu's suit to the metallic look of his counterpart, Gort, to the subtle lights of the ship's interior and the stars in the background. What else do you need? Anyone who's seen this movie will immediately admire and love this piece. It leaves a warm and fuzzy feeling for any science fiction enthusiast.
